Inspiration # 8 - Poppy Treffry

Whilst I was in St Ives (Cornwall) I came across a new shop that I instantly fell in love with.

The shop is called Poppy Treffry and it stocks a range of things from tea towels to bags all of which are hand made and use the patterns and illustrations of Poppy Treffry. Everything on the website and in the store are handmade by the team at Poppy Treffry or are sourced from manufacturers within the UK.

I love the quirky designs that are available and that you can tell that all the pieces are hand made and they are made to a high quality.

While I was in St Ives I did pop into the shop and I picked up one of the media cases for my ipod.

Cornwall Adventure - Tintagel

(view of the castle Tintagel Castle)

(half way down to the entrance of Tintagle castle)

(looking up at the castle)

During my time in cornwall I spent the one of the days in Tintagel.

The village and local castle have become famous with the legends surrounding King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, it is reputed that Tintagel is the birth place of King Arthur. The remains of the castle still stand to this day and are situated about a 15 -20 min walk (a steep walk at that) from the village. I didn't go into the castle this time but I did take a couple of pictures from the walkway below the castle (see above).

Although I didn't go into the castle the views from the path out the sea were amazing especially with the sun being out with a clear sky (compared to 2 days previous when it was windy and cold)

Cornwall Adventures - Bodmin Jail

(looking up and the rest of the cells)

(looking into one of the cells)

This was my first visit to Bodmin Jail and I have to say I really enjoyed the visit, I tend to get a bit creeped out when it come to visiting places like this but on the other hand I do love to explore these kinds of places.

As you can tell from the photos biggest part of the jail is now open and exposed to the elements but it kind of gives it an eerie atmosphere with all the plants growing over the the walls and walking in and out of the empty cells. The main part of the jail has been restored and each cell depicts some of the stories of some of the inmates who past through the jail (there are about 5/6 floors to explore). The jail also has a working execution shed which was quite interesting to see (though there weren't any demonstrations on the day I went).

On a side note the outside of the jail reminds of the Aadams family house.

Cornwall Adventures - Cornish Seal Sanctuary

I recently visited the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, Cornwall. This is my favourite place to visit whilst in cornwall so I thought I would upload a few of the photos that I took while I was there :) I couldn't help falling in love with all the animals at the sanctuary.

It's definitely in my opinion a good day out, I could easily just spend the entire day just watching the seals, sealions, penguins and the otters. The best part of the visit for me is always feeding time and seeing the animals up close.
