Graduate Show 2013!

So last night was the opening night of the Graduate Show 2013 at the University of South Wales, Newport.

The show is currently on at the City Campus in Newport and it's on for 2 weeks.

(my book was a little too big for the shelf)

Project update

so for the past couple of weeks I have been working on a concept for the Graduate Festival as part of my module competition and commission. This is now drawing to a close and I have been set a new brief which I will update you all on in the next few days :). Below are some of the concepts I have created for the festival, they include poster, invite and display banner

For this one I played around with the sizes of the faces so they wouldn't look all the same and some would stand out more than others.

Invite Idea

Heres an idea I have been working on an invite idea that is based on the same idea as the poster I am working on (see previous post)

Poster alterations

I made some alterations to my poster, I have added in the proper body text, I have also changed the graduate festival into lower case, I also tried adding colour to the heading graduate show and I also changed some of the colours of the faces.

Another poster idea

Below is another idea I have spent the morning working on, I'm not 100% on the black background but I do like how the faces stand out more on the black background. The text will be changing now that I have the proper text for the poster.

Invite Ideas

I have decided to start on the invite ideas, I have kept with the theme of the poster with the coloured faces from the previous post.  These are only ideas at the moment and are not the final versions so I am aware that some look very busy and some things need adjusting.

Coloured Stencils

In my last post I had a go at creating some stencil artwork using my profile picture. Today I had a go at creating some coloured versions

So in the previous post you saw some examples of face stencils that I had found while doing some research, in this post I have decided to have a go at doing my own version of a stencil using the photograph to the right of this post.

I started off by changing the image to grey scale in photoshop:

From there I then took the photo into Illustrator and used the live trace option and selected 3 options from the live trace menu:

Face Stencils

Whilst doing some research for my new project i came across several images of faces that have been turned in to stencils, I really like the idea of using this kind f technique for the project as it only highlights key features of the persons identity, and they are eye catching :)
